Billy Reid // Krewe: Vertical Collaboration Management
Whilst at Billy Reid, I directed our collaboration with Krewe, a luxury eyewear company based in New Orleans, LA. I collected archival imagery throughout the years of Billy Reid (the person), his wife, mother, family, and icons like Steve McQueen, Cary Grant, Paul Newman, Sofia Loren in order to guide the frame shapes toward a place of authenticity. I sourced vintage frames as references and eventually landed on a collection of 6 styles, and 16 skus with the Krewe team’s approval. The cleaning cloth inside the black leather carrying case featured our iconic “Oyster” print from SS18. In the same style as our denim and outerwear snaps and tack buttons, we embossed the snap closure with Billy Reid’s “Heirloom Stripe.” As acting experts, my counterparts at Krewe took on the technical design, while I focused on the eyewear shapes, packaging design, calendar and marketing assets. Following the launch of a Krewe-produced campaign shoot, I created a “Product Knowledge” deck that was distributed across all sales channels within the Billy Reid and Krewe teams. One of the styles, “The Troy”, remains in Krewe’s Core collection today.
